Yeah... too bad about Go Nagai cancelling from Anime America.  Anime Expo
has only had one GOH from '92 not show up and that was because Mr.
Takanashi could not find his passport.  I would ask you to please keep
your snide remarks and innuendos to yourself.  There is no more room in anime
fandom for any of it.  I for one have had enough and I know everyone else
on here has enough of it too.  Let's keep our discussions limited to
anime shall we?

Anime Expo selected its date first.  Anime America popped up later and
chose the week before.  Now you tell me what's dumb about this whole thing.

Funny...  I know A LOT of people on the original staff working for Anime
Expo, including me.  I am also proud to be working next to a lot of new
staffers who are enthusiastic, are mature and professional in their conduct,
and the nicest people in anime fandom I've ever met anywhere.  We
are all friends and we enjoy working together.

In my opinion, the Oakland Convention Center is one of the best facilities
I have ever seen, other than the San Diego Convention Center.  :)  You
only have a problem if you cancel.  ;)

I do believe Albert Wong addressed this point very well.  Parking costs are
peanuts.  Have you ever tried parking in New York, or San Francisco, or
Boston?  Parking in Oakland is minimal compared to the cost of every other
major city and compared to how much we anime fans spend anyways.  :)

Perhaps you'd like to tell the rest of us about your experiences.  I've
been to four WonderCons and never had a single problem.  I've walked the
streets of Oakland at night and never had a problem.  Lots of professional
organizations and companies have been holding conventions at the Oakland
Convention Center for years and have returned to the facility repeatedly.
I will let the merits of the Convention Center stand on its own.

Stranger things have happened... :)  You never know.

You know, I really don't understand why people from Anime America keep
posting these things attacking Anime Expo.  Don't you have anything better
to do like trying to run a good convention?  You know, if you spent as much
time trying to run a good convention as you do posting attacks on Mike
Tatsugawa, Oakland, and Anime Expo, you might be able to put together a
good convention.  The strongest impression I have gotten out of any of
those Anime America posts and attacks from Anime America people like yourself
and those in Clubzen have been that of hate.  If all Anime America is is
a convention run on hate, then I will NEVER support it.

To me anime has been a wonderful thing, and a medium that has brought people
closer together.  If the people in Anime America cannot get past their
own egos and hatred then fine.  But I won't go there.

Why don't you quit worrying about the hate and work on putting on a good
convention for the fans?  Or are you and everyone else at Anime America
so wrapped up in hate that you can't see anything else?

You better believe it.  So how about telling some of the more immature and
obnoxious personalities in Anime America to shut up for once?  We read this
newsgroup for anime news not to read your damn ego trips and hateful bashing.

Well.... I have always been a firm believer of quality vs. quantity and I
have been impressed continuously by the professionalism with which the
staff of Anime Expo has conducted itself.  No public taunting, no hate,
no malevolence.  I believe the names will stand for themselves.  Why don't
you let your convention stand on its own two feet, on its merits?  I am
making my decision very carefully.  I can only say that hateful
posts like the ones you have posted have only hurt Anime America, not
helped it.  I have never been so turned off to any convention just based
on the hate and open taunting and immaturity posted on this newsgroup as
I have seen by the people from Anime America.

I will let your last question stand on its merits.  What I think the answer
is is irrelevant.
