  13. Does anyone out there know of some good stores to buy freshwater
  14. fish at in the Chicago area (preferably in the North Shore/Evanston -
  15. Skokie area)? Most of the places I've been to have ZERO selection
  16. and unbelievably high prices. Pet Care + seems to be pretty good, but
  17. they don't have a very wide selection.

  19. Also, I've got a 20 gal high freshwater setup and have a couple filter
  20. questions:

  22. 1) Do UGF's really make a difference in water quality? I have a pouch
  23.    of activated carbon and some other resin I picked up that I run in
  24.    my power filter to knock the ammonia out. With the addition of some
  25.    new plants my water conditions are: 7.8 pH, 0.0 ppm ammonia and 
  26.    nitrite and about 30 ppm nitrate. Would a UGF be any better or easier
  27.    to use?

  29. 2) My power filter is starting to fade into the sunset after several
  30.    years of faithful service. Can anybody recommend a good, affordable
  31.    replacement that would work well for the following population in a
  32.    decently planted tank (Hornwart + Amazon Swords):

  35.    3 Tiger Barbs ( a little over 1 inch)
  36.    3 Albino Corys (the largest is an inch long)
  37.    2 Moonlite Gouramis (2 in long)
  38.    2 Black Tetras (one 1 in, one 1/2 in long)
