- Actually I wrote that. Please be tidy and careful in your attributions.

- I have an excellent newsreader which makes it easy for me to read all the
- groups. The problem is that they are all separated from one another, and
- do not have the same readership. Thus if I have a question about something
- that happens to be a marketed product, I am only supposed to ask it in
- .marketplace -- where it will be seen mostly by people who are looking to
- sell their old chainring bolts, or find out what's the best kind of
- mountain bike for under $300. In the old rec.bikes, there was a good
- chance someone would just be browsing around and would find my question by
- chance and have a worthwhile answer for it. There was much more
- freewheeling discussion, which is what some people are talking about when
- they complain about "having to wade through a bunch of crap."
-
- And now, let me suggest that YOU get a decent newsreader. One that allows
- you to browse efficiently in a list of threads, ignoring those you don't
- care for. That way YOU can choose what threads to read, instead of letting
- the division into many groups limit your choices for you.
-
- And if such a newsreader isn't available to you for reasons of where you
- are or what kind of equipment you use, DO something about it! Don't make
- the rest of us take up the slack for your inadequate software!
-
- The same applies to everyone else who complains about "having to wade
- througha bunch of crap." Solve your own problems. Get some decent
- software.
-
- For anyone who wants to know, the newsreader I use is NewsWatcher 1.3d5, on
- a Mac. It's freeware, and should be easily obtainable through any Mac user
- group. If you aren't using a Mac, there MUST be something available out
- there that will let you browse a list of threads. If there isn't, there
- MUST be someone who is interested enough to write one.
