  28. SYMPOSIUM:  IPPS '93 will be held April 13-16, 1993 at the
  29. Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Tennis Club, Newport
  30. Beach, California.  The symposium is sponsored by IEEE
  31. Computer Society and is held in cooperation with ACM
  32. SIGARCH.  IPPS '93 is a forum for engineers and scientists
  33. from around the world to present the latest research
  34. findings in all aspects of parallel and distributed
  35. processing.
  36.  
  37. WORKSHOP: The workshop will be held on the first day of the
  38. symposium (April 13, 1993).  The workshop will focus on the
  39. I/O bottleneck facing parallel computer systems for many
  40. important applications such as multimedia information
  41. systems and volume visualization.  Recognition of the
  42. importance of this problem has been growing steadily, and
  43. proposed solutions include approaches based upon new
  44. hardware, architecture, systems software and algorithms.
  45. The workshop will bring together researchers in order to
  46. foster further research on these approaches and their
  47. integration into comprehensive systems solutions.

  49. Papers are invited demonstrating original unpublished
  50. research.  Topics of interest include, but are not limited
  51. to:
  52.  
  53.     High-speed storage and channels
  54.     I/O interconnection architectures
  55.     Concurrent file systems
  56.     Compiler support for parallel I/O
  57.     Scheduling algorithms and heuristics
  58.     Data and resource allocation
  59.     Application profiling and benchmarking
  60.     Performance of I/O subsystems
  61.  
  62. SUBMITTING PAPERS: All papers will be reviewed.  The first
  63. page must include a 100-word abstract and the name,
  64. address, telephone number and electronic mail address of
  65. the author to whom correspondence is to be sent.  The
  66. manuscript should be at most 20 pages long (including
  67. figures and references).  Papers will be collected into a
  68. proceedings and distributed at the workshop.  Five copies
  69. of the paper should be sent to one of the two addresses
