- I was in Ichiban this weekend. I liked it a lot.
-
- They're located in the little strip mall that's on the east end of
- the parking lot of The Farm Stand, which is on Route 9 West, at the
- corner of Prospect and Route 9. (I think it's Prospect.)
-
- I'm not a Japanese food officionado, but it seemed to me that they had
- a pretty fair assortment of Japanese canned and dried goods. There was
- a modest produce section, but I found what I was looking for (daikon,
- lemon grass, day lily buds.) I almost bought the frozen gyoza...
-
- There was a respectable assortment of Chinese and South East Asian
- foodstuffs, but I almost didn't recognize them, since I'm used to
- seeing them in old, distressed cans on dusty shelves. Everything in
- Ichiban sparkled.
-
- There was still some empty shelf space, so they may not be done
- moving. I imagined that the booth in the back of the store would be a
- bento lunch take-out counter (is that redundant--bento take-out?) In
- any case, we'll see when they're finished.
