- Dear Prospective Employer,
-
- I am currently completing work towards my Applied Master's in Psychology at the
- University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. I expect to be finished by mid- or
- late January. My coursework here focused on human factors (or engineering
- psychology). The research I was involved in required that I develop a simple
- computer simulation on the Macintosh. I used SuperCard, a powerful prototyping
- language similar to HyperCard, for all of the work. In the course of creating
- this software, I became interested in the design of computer interfaces.
-
- I am seeking an entry level position that will allow me to apply my skills as a
- Macintosh prototyper and my knowledge of human factors principles to
- interface research and design.
-
- Copies of my software and user's manuals can be provided at your request.
- I look forward to discussing employment opportunities with you. I can be
- reached most reliably through Internet e-mail at nsabados@s.psych.uiuc.edu.
- Otherwise - home: (217) 367-1820 or work: (217) 244-8300.

- RELEVANT SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
-
- Software Development / Interface Design
- * Developed STRESSFWL, a unique Macintosh based helicopter simulation
- currently used in workload research at the University of Illinois
- and at Northern Illinois University.
- - Programmed in Supercard; learned the language quickly, achieving
- status as the "local expert" in less than a year.
- - Designed an interface that provides the researcher with a high
- degree of flexibility in experimental design.
- - Used creative and artistic abilities to produce a program that is
- both easy to use and aesthetically pleasing.
- * Created the STRESSFWL ANALYZER, a powerful data analysis program
- that has proven to be an indispensable research tool:
- - Reduced experimenter analysis time from days or hours to minutes
- or seconds by providing a wide range of data manipulation functions.
- - Designed innovative displays that enable the user to extract
- insightful information from the data.
-
- Experimental Research / Design
- * Collaborated in design and analysis of workload experiments as member
- of a 3 person team:
- - Introduced and developed useful data presentation techniques.
- - Contributed to development of experimental theories and models.
- * Scheduled and organized experiments:
- - Wrote subject instructions; trained subjects to use STRESSFWL.
- - Used a camcorder to obtain video and verbal protocol records of
- experiments.
