  13. Dear Prospective Employer:

  15. I graduated with a Ph.D in Computer Science in August of 1992 from 
  16. Florida State University. I am currently seeking a research position 
  17. in AI or AI related software project.  My specialization is in Natural 
  18. Language Processing.  I am particularly interested in applying AI 
  19. techniques to application oriented products.
  20.  
  21. Currently, I am involved in designing and developing an expert system
  22. in an object oriented environment for the State of Florida that automates 
  23. the adjudicator's job of recommending or denying benefits to an unemployed 
  24. person.  The ADS knowledge base shell from Aion is being used for the 
  25. development of this expert system.
  26.  
  27. I am also involved in a project (personal) in Neural Networks to recognize 
  28. English characters with small aberrations.  I am implementing this in 
  29. C using X-window graphic tools to see the weight changes in the network.

  31. My Ph.D research work has given me a solid background in Artificial
  32. Intelligence; especially in Knowledge Base Systems.  I implemented a
  33. prototype of a Natural Language Processing system for my dissertation 
  34. in C. It involved developing features in the system that were capable 
  35. of handling various syntactic and semantic errors in input English 
  36. sentences within a restricted domain.  Extensive use of  Fuzzy Logic 
  37. and Knowledge Representation in my research has given me a firm 
  38. background in these areas as well.

  40. My Master's project was in Database which involved taking in various 
  41. user views of the same data and integrating them in the database.  
  42. I have taught a senior level class in databases that involved teaching 
  43. relational databases, SQL and various other database techiniques;
  44. however I have not had the opportunity to use any of these in a DBMS.
  45.  
  46. In addition to my research experience in AI, I have a strong
  47. mathematical background.   This provides me with analytical skills
  48. that I have found to be a valuable asset not only in approaching 
  49. projects and other problems, but also in  acquiring new skills. My
  50. job as a teaching assistant has enhanced my ability to communicate 
  51. well and   taught me how to work productively and amiably with people.
  52. A position which will allow the application of my combined analytical,
  53. computing and research skills and afford me the opportunity to work
  54. with other people is  the kind of job I am seeking.
