- I have been using Lee Canter's Assertive Discipline for the
- past four years. I began teaching in 1972 and have always had
- good displine. I use Canter's program consistently in my second
- grade classroom with major success. I believe the reason that I
- have so much more parental support is the consistent use of the
- program. Parents know that all of my students will be treated
- with the same consequences, the same due process. They know that they will be
- made aware of any problems as they develop. There are no
- surprises. Everyone appreciates the positive reports home.
- And most important the program forces its true users to focus
- on the positive things that happen during the day instead of
- the negatives. Let's face it, in an academic world where we as
- educators are always hearing through the media what we do wrong instead of what
- we do right, it is easy to fall into the habit of being
- negative ourselves. Using Lee Canter's program has made my
- job more enjoyable.
-
- I would be glad to provide specifics of my use of program to anyone
- who is interested.
