  12. I've tried to use the same modem for both uucp and
  13. dial-in on our IPC.  When I installed uucp from the
  14. system CD it installed everything except a version
  15. of uugetty. After much hacking I found out that you
  16. have to run 'ttysoftcar' to make our dial-in line
  17. recognize a real carrier signal.  That was all well
  18. and good except I run into the following....
  19.  
  20.    'uucico' runs and attempt to check/send email
  21. whatever and getty recognizes that the Carrier Detect
  22. has gone high...so that must mean that someone has
  23. dialed in....well stupid assumption on getty's part
  24. and he dives right in and disrupts the uucico trans-
  25. mission.  Doesnt even check for locks....
