- Anyone have any recommendations on a quiet drive? I need to replace this
- 20 megger in my PB100 with something bigger. In the process, I'd like
- to find something that doesn't whine and rattle so loudly. Lower power
- consumption would obviously be desirable as well :-)
-
- Price on the drives from LaCie looks reasonable, comments?
-
- Background: I bought the PB100 on a lark when MicroCenter was dumping
- the 2/20 configurations. Now I find I've bought myself a PowerPort Gold
- 14.4k modem, and a 6 meg upgrade, and find myself using it both at
- work and at home as my main computer. Only thing left about it that's
- weak is the hard drive (and the puny lead-acid battery life).
-
- This 16 Mhz 68000 seems to run plenty fast enough for all the kinds of
- things I would want to do on a mono machine. If someone made a battery
- powered ram disk to replace the hard drive (30-40 meg range) and a better
- battery it'd be great. Ah well, maybe the next generation of Duo's will
- be better than the current ones.

- A PB100 junkie....
