  12. Anyone have any recommendations on a quiet drive? I need to replace this
  13. 20 megger in my PB100 with something bigger. In the process, I'd like
  14. to find something that doesn't whine and rattle so loudly. Lower power
  15. consumption would obviously be desirable as well :-)

  17. Price on the drives from LaCie looks reasonable, comments?

  19. Background: I bought the PB100 on a lark when MicroCenter was dumping
  20. the 2/20 configurations. Now I find I've bought myself a PowerPort Gold
  21. 14.4k modem, and a 6 meg upgrade, and find myself using it both at
  22. work and at home as my main computer. Only thing left about it that's
  23. weak is the hard drive (and the puny lead-acid battery life).

  25. This 16 Mhz 68000 seems to run plenty fast enough for all the kinds of
  26. things I would want to do on a mono machine. If someone made a battery
  27. powered ram disk to replace the hard drive (30-40 meg range) and a better
  28. battery it'd be great. Ah well, maybe the next generation of Duo's will
  29. be better than the current ones.
