- Several months after I installed System 7.0 I had a problem similar to
- yours. I too tried everything and found that the problem had something to
- do with file sharing and an AT&T mail program that started at startup.
- The AT&T E-mail wanted to mount all the volumes to itself and some how was
- always looking for a shared folder from another MAC on the network. As
- long as that MAC was on line, had file sharing active with that shared
- folder available, my MAC started normally. If it wasn't available my MAC
- went into a very long stall before it eventually started and ran normally.
- By starting the AT&T program manually I only delayed the system going into
- a stall at some other point. If Apple Talk was not active at startup I
- could get around the problem, that is what gave me the clue that the
- problem was something to do with file sharing. The problem disappeared
- finally. I'm not sure if it was with 7.0.1 + tuneup or something else.
- Ever since I have been very careful not to have shared folders auto mount
- at startup.
