- a friend got some Toshiba 830's and Fujitsu 520's last August at
- MacWorld. We tested
- them out with HDT Toolkit's bench test program. The Toshiba has a
- disappointing
- sustained transfer rate for such a big drive - I can't remember exactly
- but it was
- around 800 Kbyte/sec, an earlier post today mentioned the Fujitsu does
- 2100 K/s.
- Sustained transfer speed is important if you're going to be capturing
- sound to
- disk.
-
- Also the Toshiba is quite loud while it's spinning, the Fujitsu is louder
- seeking
- but quieter overall.
-
- So, there's a reason the Toshiba is so few $/MB. But if performance
- similar to a
- Quantum 80 is ok, then it's a great deal.
