- I recently purchases a nice new Teleport/Gold modem. It works great
- with the supplied cable when connected to my Mac, but my wife also
- wants access so she can dialup work using ARA.
-
- I ran out and bought a little switcher box down at CompUSA. Nothing
- fancy, just a simple A/B switch with the DIN connectors. The thought
- being that we'd plug the modem into the box using the supplied cable
- and plug both Macs into either the A or the B side.
-
- I tried two types of cables between the Macs and the box - "ImageWriter II"
- cables and "modem" cables. Of course neither of these worked and
- neither cables came with schematics showing their real wiring inside
- (I used to make my own RS-232 cables, but these DIN cables are just
- too small for me).
-
- Anyone have a good idea for me? Until then, we do a lot of plugging
- and unplugging when we want to move th modem from Mac to Mac and it's
- already getting to be a real pain. (And no, I can't buy her her own
- modem just yet).
