- We've recently had a rash of bad disks going around here. Most of the
- disks contain damaged Microsoft Word (4.0/5.0) files. It appears that
- some of the data is intact, but I usually cannot fully recover the
- files. Since people around these parts use lots of figures and
- equations, merely getting the text back is usually not satisfactory.
-
- I'm looking for a description of the MS Word format that I might
- employ in detailed recovery analysis. Just a document that explains
- how the data fork is formatted, and some explanation of whatever
- resources are used.
-
- Any such thing out there? I've not contacted Microsoft yet, having
- traditionally had rotten luck getting them to even realize they sell
- Macintosh software.
-
- Along these same lines, I'm also seeking the format of Excel, Cricket
- Graph, MacDraw, Cricket Draw, FrameMaker, MacWrite II, and PageMaker.
-
- Thanks,
-
