- Hi there! I have been using the same motherboard you plan to buy
- for about 1 year now with no problems at all, even Win 3.1 flies
- in this thing! :-) Mine is a top notch MB and works fine under
- alll the software I have used..From Win 3.1 to DV386/QEMM...I
- would like to know also if anyone else is having problems...As I
- plan to upgrade to OS/2 soon..:-) Later!

- *EARLY* OPTI chipsets had some problems, but that was several years ago.
-
- I have a 386DX-40 with OPTI chipset, and use a soundblaster daily and OS2
- sometimes... Zero problems after nearly a year of use...

- I just purchased (two weeks ago) a 386-40 from Dee One Systems in California.
- I am using all of the hardware from my 286-16 (hard drives, controller,
- floppies, VGA card and monitor, case, power supply, SoundBlaster etc) with no
- problems. I am using 4MB of 70ns RAM, and have two 120MB IDE hard drives,
- and a tape backup. I use Windows 3.1, DOS, QEMM 6.02, and use LOTS of big
- applications like Norton, Harvard Graphics 3, Lotus 2.3, PCPlus for Windows,
- and I play LOTS of graphics-oriented games. I have not had, nor heard of, any
- problems with the new Opti chipsets. As a matter of fact, I specifically
- looked for the Opti chipset when I ordered the motherboard, because some
- computer buddies of mine had good things to say about Opti chipsets. I don't
- know about OS/2 2.0, I have it but haven't installed it (have no desire to).
- But for DOS and Windows / SoundBlaster / QEMM / <fill-in-the-blank> , I have
- had zero problems.

- I have been using a 486DX33 for quite a while now, that utilizes the OPTI
- chipset. It has given me no problems in the least. I am able to run
- everything that I need, including Windows 3.1.
-
- A customer of mine, also running the OPTI, has had no complaints, and he
- just added a Sound Blaster Pro to his machine.
-
- I'd say, that the OPTI chipset seems to be a stable and reliable chipset,
- and have very few problems (at least no more than any other decent
- chipset...).
