- Hi,
-
- I just got a Commodore PC 10-III for free, but it's just the box: no
- keyboard, no monitor, no cables, no manuals (but, as I mentioned, for free).
-
- Since I already own a 386, I don't really need the XT, but I'd like to know
- whether it is still ok. I think my keyboard (BTC) should fit, since it has
- an ordinary 5-pin DIN plug (although I realize that matching connectors
- don't mean that much). However, I do not know what monitor I should use
- with it.
-
- I have a Packard Bell SVGA (1024x768 interlaced) colour monitor, with a
- 3-row 15-pin connector. Furthermore, I have a cheap colour TV that has a
- 'video' cinch-connector. I have used this connector with my old MSX2
- homecomputer, and that worked fine.
- The same cinch-connector is on the back of the XT, labeled 'composite
- video'. Furthermore, it has a 2-row 9-pin female connector labeled 'RGBI'.
-
- My questions are:
- (a) can I use my TV to display the composite video signal?
- (b) if I try (a), do I have a chance of damaging up either my TV or
- the XT (if the composite video signal is not suitable for my TV...)
- (c) can I use my SVGA monitor to display the RGBI signal?
- (d) if (c), which pins of the 9-pin RGBI output need to be connected to
- which pins of the 15-pin SVGA connector?
- (e) are there any chances my BTC keyboard will NOT be suitable for the XT?
-
- Thank you for reading, and thanks in advance for answering,
- Marcel
