- When buying a PC the one thing NOT to skimp on is the processor. Get a
- 486/50 or a 486/33. Get a less expensive monitor, smaller harddrive, and
- less memory if you have to since those can all easily be upgraded later.
- But your CPU you are basically stuck with unless you buy a new system.
- If a 486 is too expensive get the fasted 386 or 486SX you can afford.
- Forget the 386SX and especially the 286. A lot of software is now being
- written for 386s only and the 386SXs are just too slow.

- Yes, yes, I know there are ways of upgrading the CPU. But most are
- oodles more expensive than "accessory" upgrades.
