- Actually, the Genesis' hardware isn't all THAT different. The Genesis uses
- a 68000 at the same base speed as older stock Amigas (when they say 8
- they've rounded up from 7.14mhz I suspect as multiples of 3.57 are
- considered 'ideal' for NTSC screens for reasons no one seems to be able to
- explain to my satisfaction! :).
-
- But Genesis displays shouldn't look much more colourful if the Amiga coders
- knew what they were doing, and this is especially true is the Genesis is
- only hooked up to a TV-set. The Genesis only has a 512 colour palette, and
- it's only saving grace is the ability to display 64 colours simultaneously.
- 32 colours, out of a larger palette, is a good compromise. Any time that
- 64 colour extra-half-bright can be used for the Amiga version, then all the
- better!
-
- The Genesis does have more sound channels, but I'd doubt it if the quality
- is higher than 8-bits of sound resolution so it's not the most critical
- difference.
-
- I think the general concensus is that the Genesis and Amiga are similar
- enough that portins is a fairly easy undertaking.
