  12. While I hate to throw a damper on your "Bash the Clueless Newbie" game, I have
  13. received THREE solutions for the problem that I wrote about.  They came from
  14. some very polite fellows who actually *paid attention* to what I was trying to
  15. ask for, and offered *constructive* solutions rather than try to cloud the
  16. issue with irrelevancies.

  18. The solutions involve 2 programs that strip the unwanted characters from the
  19. files AFTER they have been captured and saved, and 1 script for VLT that filters
  20. the characters out DURING the capture.

  22. The programs that work on existing files are:

  24. Estrip - this filters out ESCAPE sequences only.  I don't know where it can be
  25.      found and my uuencoded mail is gone.  (It's CLI based)
  26.  
  27. StripANSI - this filters out ALL ANSI characters and is extremely versatile in
  28.         that you can CHOOSE which to leave in or take out.  It can be found
  29.         on FISH 581 and includes C source.  (CLI and GUI versions exist)

  31. I have not yet tried the VLT script because I don't know how to work with
  32. scripts yet, but it was nice to hear that my question inspired someone to
  33. write such a beast, and as soon as I can figure out what to do with it, and
  34. where to type it in, I will be adding it to a function key in VLT (At least 
  35. that's what he said to do with it... :>)
