- Actually, there are efforts in this direction. Microsoft not too long
- ago wanted vendors to drop the term "PC compatible," claiming that the
- concept was outdated, and start shipping "Windows compatible" systems.

- It generally went over like a lead balloon, but there are some
- individual hardware components which claim "unholy" association with
- Windows. :-) (Check the ads for some video adapters. Is that
- "Windows Accelerator" really a Windows accelerator, or is it a GUI
- accelerator? The tradenames WinSpeed, SuperWin, WinFast, and several
- other permutations abound. Seems kind of silly, if you ask me.)
