  21. Actually, there are efforts in this direction.  Microsoft not too long
  22. ago wanted vendors to drop the term "PC compatible," claiming that the
  23. concept was outdated, and start shipping "Windows compatible" systems.

  25. It generally went over like a lead balloon, but there are some
  26. individual hardware components which claim "unholy" association with
  27. Windows.  :-)  (Check the ads for some video adapters.  Is that
  28. "Windows Accelerator" really a Windows accelerator, or is it a GUI
  29. accelerator?  The tradenames WinSpeed, SuperWin, WinFast, and several
  30. other permutations abound.  Seems kind of silly, if you ask me.)
