  22. Only to the extent of not prosecuting them as monopolies.  I thought
  23. the argument was over whether monopolies could come about in a free
  24. market (minus government protection of the monopoly position), not
  25. over whether there could be a monopoly that goverment could not
  26. prevent from coming about if government chose to act.

  28. So if government interferes (regulation, etc.) it is creating a
  29. monopoly and if it DOESN'T interfere it is also creating a monopoly
  30. (or helping one to continue)?  Yes, under that kind of definition, it
  31. is impossible for a monopoly to exist without government help unless
  32. you eliminate government, since the supposition seems to be that no
  33. matter what the government does or does not do, it is helping the
  34. monopoly to continue.
