- Only to the extent of not prosecuting them as monopolies. I thought
- the argument was over whether monopolies could come about in a free
- market (minus government protection of the monopoly position), not
- over whether there could be a monopoly that goverment could not
- prevent from coming about if government chose to act.

- monopoly and if it DOESN'T interfere it is also creating a monopoly
- (or helping one to continue)? Yes, under that kind of definition, it
- is impossible for a monopoly to exist without government help unless
- you eliminate government, since the supposition seems to be that no
- matter what the government does or does not do, it is helping the
- monopoly to continue.
