- It's already been remarked that a 16MB swapfile seems large for your system.
- However, you also metioned more disk-thrashing in the new installation. Were
- you using SmartDrive before, and somehow that didn't get set up in the
- re-installation?

- My previous machine was very similar to yours; I used an 8MB permanent
- swapfile and SmartDrive caches of 2048KB outside Windows, and 768KB when
- Windows was running. Those are a bit larger than recommended by Microsoft for
- 4MB RAM, but I'm not usually running apps which require huge amounts of
- extended memory. Experiment with the parameters to get the best configuration
- for your usage.

- At any rate, SmartDrive (or another disc cache) should reduce the frequency
- of disk accesses, and improve the performance of your swapfile.
