- I had similar problems. Make sure you have absolutely nothing (running or
- not) conflicting with your COM port's IRQ address. On your winfax pro disk
- there should be a program called WFXTEST.EXE. It will test your COM ports
- and you should see if anything else is connected to the same port as your
- modem (or the other port that shares the same IRQ)

- Note: Usual settings for ports are
- COM1 and COM3 use IRQ4, COM2 and COM4 use IRQ3

- My problem was that I had a line in my autoexec.bat "set com4=com2"

- Although I had no problems using my modem for communications in com2,
- (it's been that way for a long time without my knowing) WINFAX PRO
- didn't like it one bit.
