- Michael Bishop asked if the ATI Graphics Ultra Plus with 2 MB will support
- 1280x1024 with 256 colors. My calculation follows:
-
-
- Colors: 256 colors is 2 to the 8th power so each pixel requires 1 byte.
-
- Resolution: 1280 x 1024 = 1.31 million pixels
-
- Conclusion: 256 colors at 1280x1024 resolution requires 1.31 megabytes
- video memory.
-
- Now would someone kindly explain to me why my ATI Ultra Pro Vesa local
- bus card with 1 meg Vram will not support 1280x1024 with 16 colors?
-
- Our new Deskjet 500 printer prints poorly with the ATI Ultra Pro video
- card. How does the video card and driver relate to the printer? We are
- supposed to get a new driver in the next few weeks.
-
- ATI Information:
-
- The Video Driver Windows interface displays the different options:
- resolution, colors, and you select what you want. Windows is then
- restarted and it either comes up or tells you "insufficient video
- memory". Then you have to edit the win.ini file in DOS and lower the
- resolution and start windows. I developed a bat file to speed this
- up and support my ( ) memory. It would be nice if the video driver could
- check your selections against the available memory before ending windows.
-
- Does anyone have an 800 number, email or mail address for ATI's Graphics
- Cards Division?
-
-
- Thanks!! Ron Erwin
