  30. Mathematica for DOS is a protected mode program using Phar Lap 386 DOS
  31. extender.  It is compatible with QEMM386 5.0 - 6.0 with some exceptions.

  33. Mathematica incorporates a password protection scheme that insures that
  34. it is run on a single CPU only.  This involves recording ROM signatures
  35. and storing this information to a file called MATHPASS.  This is not
  36. compatible with QEMM 6.0's ST:ealth features.

  38. QEMM386 6.0 users should disregard instructions given in the Release
  39. Notes for Mathematica Version 2.0 pamphlet.  Before running MINSTALL, it
  40. helps to have these QEMM parameters in effect:

  42.      DEVICE=C:\QEMM\QEMM386.SYS RAM FR=D000 EXT=3096
  43.  
  44. Mathematica installation should proceed normally and the user can 
  45. remove the EXT=3096 when completed. 
  46.  
  47. It appears that Mathematica will not run with the EMS Page Frame at E000
  48. reporting a Page Fault Error.  This actually is a Phar Lap error
  49. message.

  51. Adding STealth parameters will cause Mathematica to ask for the password
  52. information after each command prompt.  Remove ST:M or ST:F then reboot
  53. when running Mathmatica with QEMM 6.0.

  55. DESQview 386 Notes:
  56.  
  57. Mathematica can be run and multitasked in DESQview 386.  Here are 
  58. some suggested settings to use:

  60.      Memory Size (in K)            500
  61.      Writes Directly to Screen     Y
  62.      Displays Graphics             Y
  63.      Virtualize Text/Graphics      Y
  64.  
  65. Advanced Options:
  66.      Maximum Program Size          800
  67.      Maximum Expanded Memory       3096 
  68.      Close on Exit                 Y
  69.      Uses Math Coprocessor         Y
