- SJ>Let's see. I think I was the originator of this question, so here it goes.
-
- SJ>I am using an internal 2400 baud hayes clone modem. When I tried to download
- SJ>with DV/x with Zmodem specifically (the only one I tried) it would just sit
- SJ>there and send the header continuously. I didn't notice that DV/x was trying
- SJ>to optimize the communications or anything of the such. I was getting errors
- SJ>everytime that DV/x was writing or reading to the hard drive.
- SJ>I do have a UART.
-
- 1) Can you try any other communications software?
- 2) Does this work in a DOS window under DESQview/X? From the DOS prompt
- before DESQview/X has been run?
- 3) There is an option under DESQview/X Advanced Setup / Tune Performance
- for fast serial I/O; is this set to Y?
- 4) Are you using an XMS disk cache? Does it work better if the cache
- uses EMS?
- 5) You have a UART, but all serial ports do; is this a 16550 or a 16450
- or 8450?
-
- SJ>Is there any way in DV/X to set the optimize communication/ disallow
- SJ>swapping/no close on exit options like regular Desqview?
-
- There is no swapping at all under DESQview/X; close on exit is a setting
- in the Change a Program Menu for each program.
-
- Try downloading Quarterdeck Technical Note #237, Communications Programs
- and DESQview (COMMPROG.TEC) for more suggestions.
