- I am looking for information on the "heartbeat" or SQE signal (probably

- I have gotten the 802.3 standard and it simply mentions a flow chart or two,
- but does not mention what these sinals ARE (are they real transmissions, or a
- loopback to check operational status?) Also, why do they hose up a repeater?
- (I believe they totally screw up a DEC DEMPR).
