- The history:
- Last week I received by new Zeos machine. It was a bit
- late, somewhat incomplete but it was there.
- After unpacking and testing some of the ms/dos-5 and
- ms/windows functions the troubles began.
- Since it seems to be virtually impossible to get any
- technical assistance from Zeos Europe (the just
- don't answer my calls) I hope te get some answers
- from the wonder net.
-
- The specs:
- The machine runs on a I80486DS2/66. It has a Diamond
- Speedstar 24X SVGA card.
- It should have had 16 Mb's of memory but it had only 8 Mb's
- It should have had 256 Kb of cache, it didn't.
- It should have contained a Tornado Faxmodem II, it didn't.
- It does contain a Archive2150 250Mb SCSI tapeunit wich,
- like the 2 x 245Mb disks, is connected to the builtin SCSI chip.
-
- The problems:
- The tapeunit doesn't work. It came with SCSI backupsoftware.
- The "Archive Information Manager" for Windows.
- On startup is asks to specify a scsi controller. Since there
- is no technical information on either the controller or the
- tape-unit, I had to guess more or less. The only plausible
- answer i filled in was "Adaptec PC SCSI Controller"
- Then there are some questions like:
- Attached drives
- I/O adress
- Interrupt Number
- DMA Channel only possible answer to all
- of these questions is "auto-
- determine".
- On pushing the [Test Hardware] button the system will
- freeze. Any ideas?
-
- Another problem:
- I tried to use my old "tandon add-pac" hardware. It doesn't
- seem to work. Dit anybody ever try this? I do have I386/Unix
- drivers for them but the system fails to boot after inserting
- the RLL controllerboard.
-
- More problems:
- I tried to install Sco Open Desktop (release 2.0.0). I seems
- to work ok for a while but after the second boot from the N1
- diskette the system gives a message
- "Setting installation display environment".
- After this the screenborder becomes blue and the system seems
- to freeze.
-
-
- It seems to me i'm a ling way from installing the X Window System.
-
- Any help appreciated,
