  13. The history:
  14.     Last week I received by new Zeos machine. It was a bit
  15.     late, somewhat incomplete but it was there.
  16.     After unpacking and testing some of the ms/dos-5 and 
  17.     ms/windows functions the troubles began.
  18.     Since it seems to be virtually impossible to get any
  19.     technical assistance from Zeos Europe (the just
  20.     don't answer my calls) I hope te get some answers
  21.     from the wonder net.

  23. The specs:
  24.     The machine runs on a I80486DS2/66. It has a Diamond
  25.     Speedstar 24X SVGA card.
  26.     It should have had 16 Mb's of memory but it had only 8 Mb's
  27.     It should have had 256 Kb of cache, it didn't.
  28.     It should have contained a Tornado Faxmodem II, it didn't.
  29.     It does contain a Archive2150 250Mb SCSI tapeunit wich,
  30.     like the 2 x 245Mb disks, is connected to the builtin SCSI chip.

  32. The problems:
  33.     The tapeunit doesn't work. It came with SCSI backupsoftware.
  34.     The "Archive Information Manager" for Windows.
  35.     On startup is asks to specify a scsi controller. Since there
  36.     is no technical information on either the controller or the
  37.     tape-unit, I had to guess more or less. The only plausible
  38.     answer i filled in was "Adaptec PC SCSI Controller"
  39.     Then there are some questions like:
  40.         Attached drives
  41.         I/O adress
  42.         Interrupt Number
  43.         DMA Channel          only possible answer to all
  44.                      of these questions is "auto-
  45.                      determine".
  46.     On pushing the [Test Hardware] button the system will
  47.     freeze. Any ideas?

  49. Another problem:
  50.     I tried to use my old "tandon add-pac" hardware. It doesn't
  51.     seem to work. Dit anybody ever try this? I do have I386/Unix
  52.     drivers for them but the system fails to boot after inserting
  53.     the RLL controllerboard.

  55. More problems:
  56.     I tried to install Sco Open Desktop (release 2.0.0). I seems
  57.     to work ok for a while but after the second boot from the N1
  58.     diskette the system gives a message 
  59.         "Setting installation display environment".
  60.     After this the screenborder becomes blue and the system seems
  61.     to freeze.

  64. It seems to me i'm a ling way from installing the X Window System.
