- Subject: Parental neglect?
- Lines: 31
-
- I'm sorry uncle ernie but parental neglect is telling the kid not to
- bother you while you are watching the football game. Leaving a nine
- year old kid home with a four year old kid crosses the border into
- child abuse.
-
- Maybe some of the list library people would like to provide some stats
- on child abuse by heterosexual couples versus homosexual couples. I'm
- willing to bet that you will find far more DOCUMENTED cases of abuse
- in the former scenario than the latter. I spent four years working in
- an institution for children with a variety of problems. I don't remember
- seeing a single child who came from a family composed of two homosexual
- parents. I realize that this doesn't prove that homosexual parents are
- more caring but at the same time it certainly doesn't prove that the
- heterosexual couples make better parents.
-
- Can someone cite the portion of the constitution or the specific law
- that prohibits adoption by homosexual couples? Don't we have laws
- that prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation?
-
- It seems to me that the qualities that make a "good parent", the
- guidence of young minds, the sense of security, the willingness to
- make sacrifices, has absolutely nothing to do with sexual orientation,
- AS LONG AS THAT ORIENTATION DOES NOT INCLUDE A SEXUAL ATTRACTION TO
- CHILDREN, but this statement holds true for heterosexuals as well
- as homosexuals.
-
- Happy new year to all.
-
- Linda, I miss you.
