  18. The University of California San Francisco Library and Center for
  19. Knowledge Management has an opening for a Systems Support
  20. Specialist in the Computing and Communications Services unit.
  21.  
  22. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  23.   *  Provide support for Library's Innopac and Innovacq systems and
  24.      serve as the primary contact between the Library and
  25.      Innovative Interfaces, Inc.
  26.   *  Provide support for access to UC's Melvyl system and serve as
  27.      the Liaison between the Library and the Division of Library
  28.      Automation at the UC Office of the President
  29.   *  Troubleshoot and diagnose network problems
  30.   *  Provide support for Library's OCLC/PRISM access and serve as
  31.      the primary contact between the Library and OCLC
  32.   *  Install, maintain, and document general-purpose as well as
  33.      library-specific system software under Unix, Macintosh, MS-
  34.      DOS, Windows, and OS/2
  35.   *  Perform basic Unix system administration duties including
  36.      filesystem backup and user account creation
  37.   *  Provide basic support for MS-DOS, Macintosh, and Windows-based
  38.      systems
  39.   *  Assist and train staff in the use of software
  40.   *  Other duties as required

  42. REQUIREMENTS
  43.   *  Knowledge of automated bibliographic systems such as
  44.      OCLC/PRISM, Innopac, and Melvyl
  45.   *  Knowledge of the USMARC format
  46.   *  Familiarity with general principles of cataloging (e.g.,
  47.      AACR2)
  48.   *  Familiarity with basic PC applications, MS-DOS batch files,
  49.      basic PC hardware configuration
  50.   *  Knowledge of basic telecommunications principles (e.g., RS232)
  51.   *  Knowledge of network fundamentals
  52.   *  Familiarity with Unix, MS-DOS, Macintosh, Windows, or OS/2
