- I totally agree; requiring an extra fee for the HLA is going to be its
- most serious drawback. The same case could be made for COBOL-II; it
- is required if you want to write 31-bit applications, but at a cost.
- In the VSE/ESA world, why not have IBM offer HLA and COBOL-II as
- part of the bundle, starting at, say, release 1.3 which is coming soon.
- They might see a lot more shops jump on the ESA bandwagon, and get off
- of the old VSE/SP 2,3,4 stuff. Or even make it a limited-time offer,
- to encourage more places to try the upgrade earlier.
- I guess we can all wonder how we ended up getting REXX for free...
