  14.      Happy New Year!
  15.      I am a student of NSYSU (National Sun Yat-Sen University, in Taiwan.)
  16. I don't know how much people are interested in Chinese history and culture.
  17. But, the history of China is really a long river, many interesting parts
  18. included.
  19.      "Calligraphy" is the special one in Chinese culture. It is not only
  20. the writing way in China for thousands years (writing brush, inkcake, paper,
  21. and inkstone are the tools), but also the "art" maintained to today.
  22. There are many styles of Calligraphy, and each one owns its different beauty.
  23.       How can we reserve the calligraphy from a stele ? That's ---"Squeeze"
  24. (means to replicate the epigraph onto paper, but not to destroy the stele).
  25. Following are main steps :
  26.       1. Clean the stele and wash it.
  27.       2. Paste a piece of paper by thin starch and a piece by water on
  28.          the stele.
  29.       3. knock paper into groove (without bubbles in the papers).
  30.       4. when the papers are subarid, tear down one piece of paper.
  31.       5. pat ink onto paper (on the stele) carefully.
  32.       6. tear down the replica and the replica is finished !
  33. interesting, isn't it? Ancient people did this to reserve the epigraph, so
  34. we could appreciate and learn them, even to understand the history then.
