  19. "Suddenly the sky opened and he saw the Spirit of God descend like a dove and
  20.  hover over him.  With that, a voice from the heavens said, `This is My
  21.  beloved Son.  My favor rests on him.'" --Matthew 3:16-17

  23. Before Jesus began His public ministry, He needed to be confirmed by the Spirit
  24. and affirmed by the Father.  Before we minister in Jesus' name in 1993, we also
  25. need to be empowered by the Spirit and hear the Father's affirmation.  We must
  26. know deep down that we are temples of the Holy Spirit (I Cor 6:19), beloved
  27. children of the Father and pleasing in His sight (see Mt 3:17).

  29. Confirmed and affirmed, we will go about "doing good works and healing all"
  30. who are "in the grip of the devil" (Acts 10:38).  We will establish "justice
  31. on the earth" (Is 42:4, 6).  We will be "a light for the nations, to open
  32. the eyes of the blind, to bring out prisoners from confinement" (Is 42:6-7).

  34. These are the works of Jesus and His followers.  In fact, we who have been
  35. confirmed by the Spirit and affirmed by the Father can do works even greater
  36. by far than Jesus did (Jn 14:12).  Why?  Because we believe in Him and He
  37. intercedes for us at the right hand of the Father.

  39. On this last day of the Christmas season, open up to the ultimate Christmas
  40. present.  Ask for the Trinity to do in you what was done at Jesus' baptism.

  44. Prayer:  Father, thank You for the wonders of Your love during the Christmas
  45.          season.
  46.  
  47. Promise: "We must do this if we would fulfill all of God's demands." --Mt 3:15
  48.  
  49. Praise:  Alleluia!  The Father loves, Jesus saves, the Spirit confirms!
