  13. May I ask, bluntly, if either of the teachers of "Rock, Racism, and
  14. the Mass Audience" can play a simple blues progression on the piano?
  15. What I find frustrating about these courses is that many of the instructors
  16. are deaf as a post, and teach not music, but LYRICS, treating "a song" as
  17. "words-which-are-the-meaning, plus some sort of background-which-only-
  18. requires-an-adjective-or-two"; in short, many of these Indeterminate Studies-
  19. type folks don't particularly CARE for music, nor do they understand it (not
  20. surprisingly). A symptom to watch out for: if either of these worthies directs
  21. you toward the REAL meaning (as opposed to the "apparent" meaning), you're
  22. dealing with the dreaded tribe of Vulgar Marxists; head for the exit a.s.a.p.!
