- Yes, Albert King, I remember him. I think it was at the Bayou in Washington,
- D.C., or maybe the Keystone in Berkeley. Great big mean-looking man. You
- wouldn't want to mess with him. He was playing a Gibson Flying V, if I recall
- correctly. He was a lefty who played a regular right-handed guitar turned
- upside down, like a couple other guitarists we all could name. Huge hands.
- It seemed like he could get anywhere on the fretboard in no time at all, and
- he did. That guitar blazed.
-
- Of the three King "brothers" (Albert, B.B., Freddie), I think Albert was the
- best player, and he probably got the least recognition. Except from other
- musicians, where his name was legend.
-
- Like I said, he was a big, forbidding-looking man. Forever grumbling about
- the music business, always griping that the "kids" playing today had no
- respect for their elders, no respect for the music. Made you think he was
- always quitting the music business... _tomorrow_ night.
-
- Rest in peace, Mr Albert King.
-
- There goes another one.
