- Of course if your news s/w or utilities are writing to the active
- file, you could have to do that a lot, and it could be hard to find
- out when to do it. Traditional practice is to *not* require the active
- file to be sorted. If ARN wants a sorted copy, have it make one, by
- all means, but if it depends on the active file being sorted, or
- rewrites it in alphabetical order, there are a lot of sites that can't
- or just won't use ARN.

- And on the topic of ARN, has anyone gotten a good archive assembled
- from the parts posted to a.s.a.u.p? I'm usually pretty good at this
- reassembling stuff, all the parts were there, all different, all with
- starts and ends, but the resultant archive had several corrupt files
- in it.
