- I was using BRU despite it's slowness, especially with tape, because
- it handles multiple volume backups and is very reliable. Filling a
- 250M tape in an A3070 could take 10 hours. tar and BTN is a little
- skimpy in the error checking and redundancy departments and I couldn't
- figure out how to make a backup that spanned multiple tapes.
-
- What I use now is Ami-Back 2.0. It's fast, reliable, and cheap enough
- there's no excuse not to buy it.

- Could you remind us what it was?
-
- I had a problem recently using the gnutar that comes with AmigaUUCP
- 1.16. It choked because one of the files in a subdirectory it was
- backing up started with a "." (or something like that).

-
- They aren't fully implemented, but it's simple to roll your own or
- hack tar to not worry about it.

- Try gcc, ixemul.library has all your Unix stuff, type make and you're
- probably done the port. :-) There's also dice for free or cheap.
- Actually Manx isn't half bad either.
-
- This discussion should be moved to comp.sys.amiga.applications, or
- comp.sys.amiga.programmer.
