  19. I've seen many inquiries about an anonymous ftp archive for the
  20. stories that appear in alt.startrek.creative.  As others have
  21. mentioned, I maintain an archive on ftp.cis.ksu.edu (129.130.10.80) in
  22. the directory /pub/alt.startrek.creative.  All files are compressed using
  23. the ZIP format, used by INFO-ZIP's "zip" and "unzip" and PK-WARE's "pkzip"
  24. and "pkunzip" programs, among others.
  25. Programs, both in binary and source form, to handle this format are available
  26. on other archive sites.
  27. If you cannot find a program to handle ZIP files, use the
  28. archive mail server described below.

  30. If you find a story that I've missed, especially any of the ones that
  31. appeared early in the life of this group or in the rec.arts.startrek.*
  32. groups, mail it to me (jfy@cis.ksu.edu) or upload it to /pub/upload on
  33. the archive site.

  35. If you have any contributions to the archive, suggestions, etc. you
  36. may also email them to me.

  39. For all those unfortunates who don't have Internet ftp access, I've
  40. setup a mailserver to provide access to the archives on
  41. ftp.cis.ksu.edu.
  42.  
  43. This mailserver can be contacted via mail one of the following
  44. addresses:

  46. ...!rutgers!depot!mailserver  (UUCP)
  47. mailserver@cis.ksu.edu        (Internet)
  48.  
  49. The server accepts commands given in the body of the mail messages;
  50. help is available with the command "help".  
  51.  
  52. A listing of the files in
  53. the story archive may be obtained by "dir -l /pub/alt.startrek.creative".
  54.  
  55. Since the story archive consists of ZIP files, they must
  56. be uuencoded before they are sent on their way.  To specify this mode,
  57. use the command "encode uuencode"  To retrieve the files, use the
  58. "send" command (ex:  send /pub/alt.startrek.creative/story/tng/TheMoralsOfWar.zip

  60. If you have a system which cannot handle ZIP files, you may use
  61. the "unzip" filter ("encode unzip") 
  62. which will send you the uncompressed (but not uuencoded) version of the file.
