- I hope people are starting to come back from the holidays--I need
- the help of the multitudes!
-
- I'm applying pieces of silk to a polyester backing. The sandwich
- is *very* slippery. I think I can machine sew the edges of the
- pieces if I hand baste the two fabrics together first. But I
- can't even do the hand basting! If I pin first, the small
- distortions in the area of the pins cause problems. Have only
- made some progress by stitching about 3 inches, smoothing out the
- two fabrics, hanging the edge over the edge of the table to do
- 3 more inches--very tedious and slow.
-
- So--any hints for how to do the basting? Or other alternatives?
- I'm even thinking about using the iron-on strip of adhesive to
- hold the fabrics in place until sewing. Except that would be
- another big expense (there are yards and yards of fabric to go)
- and this project has already broken my budget.
-
- Happy Year of the Rooster!
