-
- As far as I am aware neither "Celephais" nor "Dream-quest" name the
- Dreamlands echo(es) of the village; maybe it's called Innsmouth, maybe
- it ain't, maybe it's named in some other tale that I haven't read, the
- important thing is that it's modelled on an Innsmouth.
-
- According to "Dream-Quest" Kuranes' Gothic manor is in "a small tract
- of such countryside in the region east of the city", and the village
- is "on the coast nearby", putting them both near but outside the city
- of Celephais. Similarly the village is not "surrounding" Trevor Towers.
-
- Are the villages mentioned by the two stories identical? The "Dream-Quest"
- village is very much a product of Kuranes' post-death boredom, while the
- "Celephais" village was in place long before he died - not that time has
- too much meaning in the Dreamlands. Further, the "Dream-Quest" village is
- an artefact of the Dreamlands, whereas the "Celephais" village seems to be
- more like Lomar - waking-world places that have slowly drifted into the
- Dreamlands. If my reasoning is correct, the "Celephais" village would
- be called Innsmouth, simply because it is one with the Cornish fishing-
- village.
-
- This suggests there are at least 4 Innsmouths, 2 in the waking world
- on either side of the Atlantic and 2 in the Dreamlands, one of which
- is a folly, possibly known under some other name.
-
- Any thoughts?
