- John Mclaughlin was the first guitar player to introduce fusion style. He
- was a disciple of Miles Davis (the founder of fusion style). He's my favorite
- fusion guitarist with Larry Corell (listen to Corell and Alphonse Mouzou on their
- album in 19?? 77, but I'm not sure). Pat Metheny is one of the greatest modern
- fusion guitarist. But I don't like is MIDI stuff...he did it well but sound fake
- to me. Listen to Mahavishnu Orchestra (the first group where Mclaughlin introduce
- fusion style). 'inner mountain flame' and 'Birds of fire' my 2 best fusion album
- ever made. It sound rock but it was the begin of a new style. On these album, check
- out what Billy Cohbam (drummer) do! He's playing in 3/8 5/8 7/8 9/13 3/4 5/16 etc...
- what a drummer this guy! Any guitar player dream to play with a drummer like him!
-
- If you want something new in the world of fusion, look for Weather Report and
- Return to Forever album(great modern fusion with alot of keyboard from Chick Corea
- and Zawinul with good bass from Jaco Pastorius).
-
- that's it for fusion.
-
- bye!
