  18. Although North Carolina doesn't have the weird city/county separation
  19. Virginia has, we still have a tradition that the city and the county
  20. of the same name are not in the same place.  Rockingham is not in
  21. Rockingham County, and the same is true of Graham, and Cherokee, and
  22. Henderson, and quite a few others.

  24. Just to foul things up,  Durham *is* in Durham County.  Similarly for
  25. Alamance, and a couple of others.

  27. In South Carolina, on the other hand, a city with the same name as
  28. a county is usually in that county.
