- There really is such a thing as a toxic dose of LSD - it's just that,
- compared to a normal dose (which is quite small in absolute terms),
- it's an _incredibly large_ amount. There was a study in which they
- administered very large doses of LSD to elephants (I'm not making this
- up) to determine - I forget exactly why - how much LSD it takes to
- snuff a pachyderm. (The fact that the people runnning this study chose
- _elephants_ as their guinea pigs probably says a lot about the effects
- of handling LSD). Anyway, I remember this distinctly from one of my
- college textbooks (it is the kind of thing that sort of _haunts_ you),
- and - if pressed - could probably come up with a reference. By the way,
- in case you ever need to kill an elephant, if I remember correctly, the
- proper dose is approxiamtely 30 grams (or about 300,000 people-hits).
