- MEDLINE is a generic term for the bibliographic data maintained by the
- National Library of Medicine. There are a variety of ways to access this:
- CIS$ gives access to Paper Chase, a nice front end. Type "go pch" on CI$.
- You can also telnet to "pch.bih.harvard.edu" and type "PCH,SIGNUP" at the
- password prompt to obtain an account. This is a for-fee service, so have
- your MC/Visa card no. ready. Other companies provide the MEDLINE data on
- CD-ROM for retrieval on individual PCs. "Grateful Med" is a front end
- program for the PC and Mac which calls MEDLARS, a computer system at the
- NLM, directly, and formats queries in a nice user-friendly manner. MEDLARS
- access also costs $$$--you need to have set up an account with them beforehand.
