- I have to agree with the previous follow-up: the FBI has actually pretty well
- gutted La Cosa Nostra over the past 2 decades. The Gotti prosecution is largely
- just the latest part of this. What remains in the US of the Sicilian Mafia is a
- ghost of it's former self, with appreciably less organization, very messy
- successions un-resolved, and it's most experienced members jailed or turned.
- Yes it still exists, but far from controlling the FBI or CIA, it has decayed
- and been chopped up to the extent where it may not really any longer qualify as
- organized crime.
