  19. Boutros Boutros Ghali is from the Anglophile elite of Egypt.  I would
  20. recommend a couple of books by and about his suicidal-depressive-novelist
  21. kid brother Waguih Ghali for an insight into his background: Waguih's novel
  22. "Beer in the Snooker Club" (published by Serpent's Tail) and Diana Athill's
  23. "After a Funeral" (first published in the UK and once available in
  24. paperback there; reprinted in the US by Ticknor & Fields in 1986).  Prepare
  25. for a few hundred pages of unremitting spleen and misery.  I doubt whether
  26. Boutros Boutros is very happy that these books are in circulation.
