- In response to your message posting I have several suggestions.
-
- You have the right idea to shoot you arrows in to straw however, once a
- "pocket" has developed by placing arrows in the same area (i.e., a tight
- grouping) you will weaken an area in each bale. Tp prevent the arrows from
- penetrating place a rubber conveyer belt behind your backstop. I guarantee you
- that no matter what your draw weight is your arrows will NOT penetrate. You
- should be able to pick up a sheet of the conveyer belt at any surplus store.
-
- As for the flecthing of your arrows I would recommend that You stay away from
- feathers and use plastic fletching. Plastic will be more forgiving and will
- hold its shape after you abuse it. I have been using plastic fletching for
- eight years now and have only lost two or three veins in all this time. Most
- of the Easterners will swear by feathers. The choice is yours. What material
- you decide on will make all the difference in the world. Regardless of the
- material you decide on I highly recommend you use a RIGHT handed helical. The
- helical will help to straighten out your arrow flight and is a MUST if you plan
- to shoot broad heads.
-
- If you should like futher information on this subject send me an E-mail.
- I have been at this sport for eight years and have come back with some nice
- looking deer. This year will be my first year at taking an elk.
