- The following geometic construction would be useful in the derivation
- of violin outlines.
-
- Given two orthogonal lines AB and CD, intersecting at E, and a circle R
- containing E, construct the two circles tangent to R, and tangent to AB
- at E.
-
- A "ruler and compassess" construction for AutoCAD or similar is desired.
-
- Analytic results are of course easy to derive, but I cant see the
- compass and ruler construction to find the centres of the circles
- (which must lie on CD obviously).
-
- ANy pointers gartefully received (email is OK). Alternatively, what is the
- classic reference (I assume fairly old) for such constructions?
-
- Cheers, Rob Potter
