  12. I am involved in environmental engineering work.  I particular, I am
  13. part of a group that develops, tests, and implements solid waste processing
  14. systems for shipboard use.  We are now working on a solid waste pulper,
  15. which is functionally similar to a giant garbage disposal.  It handles
  16. paper, cardboard, wood, food waste, etc. and will separate palstic,
  17. metal, glass, and other non-pulpables freom its output slurry stream.

  19. We may need to redesign the drive sstem due to several drive bearing
  20. failures.  We are not sure whether the problem is due to seal problems
  21. (subsequent bearing corrosion and failure) or fearing failure first
  22. (subsequent seal breakage).

  24. I am therfore compiling a lists of experts (univ. ME researchers, consultants,
  25. possible contractors) we can engage if it is determined that outside
  26. help is needed.
