- After tuning up my car, I went to check the timing with my trusty light and...
- no timing gauge!
- I can see the mark on the fly wheel, but nothing all around it
- that even barely resembles a gauge. There is a little tube
- pointing to the flywheel; tube is vertical at the very top.
- Do I junk my timing light?
- Is this for a magnetic probe or something like that?
- If I buy an instrument to set the timing, is it $$$$$$?
- (So should I go to my frienly neighborhood repair shop and
- hope they do it right)
- or can someone recommend some method to check the timing?
-
- The engine is '79 Chevy 267 V8 (little tiny V8)
- with absolutely no fancy junk; not even a computer :-)
- ( just a HEI ignition system that makes one heck of a spark!)
-
- If you answer, I'd appreciate e-mail as our
- rec.autos.tech newsfeed seems to have dwindled :-(
